What Are SIM Farms?

March 20, 10:30 (GARDEN)

Many have read the headlines of law enforcement around the world dismantling “SIM Farms”, but few understand what “SIM Farms” are. This session will dive into the wild world of telephony abuse, and how SIM Farms are the framework for a myriad of illicit activity. Such examples: renting numbers to defeat 2FA/OTP authentication, utilizing virtual numbers to perform “swatting”/harassing phone calls, or “spoofing” numbers to facilitate fraud. Deep web based virtual SIM services will be explored in real time, and a demonstrative session will be performed as a virtual number is rented to defeat OTP registration.
