Description

Managing a cyber crisis goes far beyond technical incident response. While incident response focuses on containing, analysing, and remediating a security event, crisis management focuses on the organisation’s survival. It requires anticipating crisis scenarios, establishing clear governance, preparing decision-making playbooks, training teams from operational staff to executive leadership, and running realistic exercises to validate readiness.

A company cannot improvise during a crisis; it must prepare, practice and build organisational muscle memory. This distinction is essential: incident response fixes the incident; crisis management protects the business, reputation and continuity.

What makes this training unique is the multidisciplinary instructor team, bringing perspectives from business leadership, communication, human aspects, team organisation and crisis operations. Their guidance is grounded in practice, not theory – allowing participants to experience what a real crisis feels like, with the safety of a controlled environment.

Course outline

The participants will be inside a realistic corporate crisis scenario where everything unfolds in real time. Rather than receiving theoretical slides, you will operate as a crisis team, face unexpected events, make decisions under pressure, and apply a structured methodology directly in the field.

A fictional company will suffer a succession of disruptions.

Your mission: manage the crisis, maintain control, and lead the organisation through uncertainty.

Throughout the session, participants explore every layer of crisis leadership, especially those areas that the classic NIST incident response framework only partially addresses or does not cover at all, including:

  • Strategic decision-making support for Executives
  • Internal & external communication during a crisis
  • Writing and delivering press releases & press conference
  • Communication with partners, authorities, regulators and stakeholders
  • Adapting the organisational chart during crisis operations
  • Crisis teams’ structure and role definition
  • Selection of key players in the crisis management
  • Managing rotations, fatigue, and shift planning
